Coffey Environments’ Elvira Nigido recognised for Ozone Protection
(19 October 2011) Elvira Nigido was recently awarded by the Fire Protection Industry (Ozone Depleting Substances and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases) Board, in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to the development of the national Ozone Depleting Substances and the Synthetic Greenhouse Gases Learning and Assessment Resources.
Elvira is the Operations Manager of the National Halon Bank in Melbourne and has been one of the key persons that have contributed to the success of the Facility since its inception in 1995. A unique purpose built facility, the Bank was established to safely store, reclaim and destroy ozone depleting substances such as halons and CFCs for Australian and international customers.
Elvira and her specialised team of seven have been instrumental in helping the Australian Government achieve substantial reductions in the emissions of ozone depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gases and meet its obligations under the Montreal Protocol through the implementation of the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989.
Coffey and the halon team continue to provide leadership in the implementation of ozone protection programs and provide the benchmark by which other countries measure their success in dealing with the management of their ozone depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gases.
Coffey provides a range of ozone depleting substances management services to international customers including the United States of America and several Asia Pacific nations.
