Our work in this area includes social policy, social protection, social economics and monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of aid flows.
Social Protection is comprised of specific policies and programs that aim to reduce poverty among the chronically poor, the economically vulnerable and the socially marginalised. This is done by diminishing their exposure to prevailing risks, and enhancing their capacity to protect themselves against future shocks.
Coffey International Development is involved in:
- social policy as the framework within which social protection can be advanced and mainstreamed
- social protection including employment and labour markets, social insurance, pensions and other forms of long term savings, social assistance, welfare and social payments, and human rights including gender equality and children’s rights
- social economics including economic analysis, poverty reduction strategies, and public expenditure management and public financial management as these relate to allocating relevant social protection expenditure
- monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of aid flows.
Our social protection work actively interfaces with the work of our other international development practices on cross-cutting issues related to governance, health, education, livelihoods, financial sector development, private sector engagement and fragile states to ensure that our offering across all practices provides the depth and relevance to the wider development agenda required by our clients.
