The primary purpose of SNS is to re-establish efficient and effective public administration in the decentralised context of PNG.
The program will also influence the wider Australian aid program so that it becomes more efficient by better aligning itself with the structure of governance and administration in PNG.
The Sub-National Strategy supports the Papua New Guinea – Australia Development Co-operation Strategy 2006 – 2010, focusing particularly on improved service delivery and stability. Additionally, the program contributes in the areas of improved governance and nation building and strengthened, co-ordinated and effective response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
