About Coffey International Development Asia-Pacific
From our roots in providing agriculture training to the Middle East in the 1970s, Coffey International Development’s Asia-Pacific office has greatly expanded our capabilities to be one of Australia’s largest development contractors.
Today, we manage over $400 million of development activities for our main client AusAID. From rebuilding schools in tsunami-affected Aceh (Indonesia) to providing support and training to Pacific island policing agencies, Coffey International Development has a strong history across the Asia-Pacific region in delivering development assistance to communities.
We have over 400 staff managing and implementing projects across Asia-Pacific with key activities in:
- Vietnam
- Fiji
- Samoa
- Tonga
- the Philippines
- Papua New Guinea
- Indonesia
- Cambodia
Our decades of experience in designing, implementing and evaluating development assistance programs in education, governance, health, law and justice, agriculture and infrastructure provide us with strong global experience and capabilities to provide innovative, hands-on solutions and be a key development partner in the world’s most populous region.
Our expertise is as diverse as our activities. On any given day in the region we are working on behalf of our clients to deliver training to midwives in Indonesia, provide strategic guidance and advice to Papua New Guinea (PNG) government agencies, carry out agricultural training programs in Australia for Iraqi government ministers, provide grants to pro-poor business initiatives and develop strategies to minimise waste disposal in Tonga.
The lasting impacts of our activities can be seen in new institutions such as the creation of Indonesia’s National Training Body, which works to certify training courses across Indonesia in a wide variety of sectors to an international standard, providing opportunities for Indonesians to work globally.
In Indonesia, we have also helped to vastly improve neonatal maternal health statistics in some of the poorest regions and helped to improve school facilities in earthquake-affected Nias. In all that we do, we are guided by our commitment and our main client’s commitment to the UN Millennium Development Goals to provide greater opportunities for vulnerable communities across the region.
