Stakeholders' views on the legitimacy of a project and their confidence in the proponent will influence the political climate in which governments assess and approve projects. Stakeholders are key to the project’s fortune therefore it is in the proponent’s interest – and the stakeholders’ interests – that their opinions of the proponent and the project are well informed.
