Halon Decanting

Reclamation

The reclamation process involves separating the nitrogen component of the nitrogen-halon mixture. A fully computerised batch processing system separates the nitrogen from halon using a carbon dioxide cold-bath cooling system.

Reclaimed halon is fully analysed to ensure conformance with international specifications (ISO 7201 for Halon 1211 and ASTM D-5632 for Halon 1301).

Upon conformity with the specifications halon is transferred to bulk storage tanks pending either destruction or storage to meet Australia's essential use requirements.
